1 He called his twelve diciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon(who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James sone of Zebedee, and his brother John;
3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: 'Do not go among the Gentiles of enter any town of the Samaritans.
6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.
7 As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

예수가 하던 치유사역 중 더러운 영을 쫓고 모든 병과 허약함을 치료하는 권능을 열두 제자들에게 주었다. 열두 제자들에게 준 것은 authority 권한이었다. 능력이 원래 있었든 없었든 실제 이루어져 나타나게 권한과 능력을 주었다. 그리고 그들을 보내며 이렇게 지시한다.
- 이방 사람의 길로 가지 말고, 사마리아 성에도 들어가지 말고 이스라엘의 집 잃은 양에게로 가라
- 가면서 '하나님의 나라가 가까이 왔다' 라고 전해라
- 환자를 고치고 죽은 사람을 일으켜 세워라
- 귀신을 내쫓아라
- 너희가 거저 받았으니, 거저 주어라.
가야할 곳을 정해줬다. 하나님을 알지 못하는 또는 알아도 무시하는 사람들에게 먼저 가라고 하지 않았다. 반대로 하나님의 백성, 주인을 떠나 길 잃은 백성들에게 가서 치유하고 전파하라. 병든 사람을 받은 권능으로 치료하고 귀신을 내쫓아라. 아무 댓가 없이 받은 권능이니 아무 댓가 바라지 말고 주어라. 자식 잃은 부모 마음은 가장 먼저 할 일이 바로 자식을 찾는 것 외에 잡히는 일이 없을 것이다. 마찬가지로 하나님은 그들의 백성인 이스라엘을 잃어버린 것에 마음 아파하며 다시 찾고자 준비하고 있던 일을 시작하신다.
